There is a proposed upcoming merger between Halliburton and Baker Hughes, two of the largest oilfield service companies in the US.

With their attention focused on internal efforts - logistics, personnel changes, cultural differences and reorganization - this could provide an excellent opportunity for pressure pumpers and other service companies to break into the market.  Access to information about their customers is invaluable at a time like this.

In the Permian Basin, as an example, Baker Hughes and Halliburton together have most of the major operators as pumping clients.
