Enbridge Inc. will proceed with its $8 Billion(CA) Northern Gateway Pipeline, according to a report from the Financial Post

This is after a vote on Saturday, April 12 2014 had a majority of Kitimat residents vote against the project.

In a Plebiscite, about 58% of the residents of Kitimat reported that they did not support a federal panel's decision to approve the Northern Gateway Project last year.  This vote is not binding, and it is not clear if it will have any effect on the project.

The project is unpopular among some environmental and First Nations groups in British Columbia.

The Northern Gateway Pipeline would transport Oil Sands Crude to a super-tanker port at Kitimat, relieving some of the takeaway capacity problems with heavy oil that have caused the price to be discounted.

The capacity for the project is 525,000 bpd to Kitimat, and 193,000 bpd from Kitimat.
