UPDATED: Chevron's Marcellus Gas Well Still Burning After 24 Hours

An explosion has occurred at one of Chevron’s Marcellus gas wells in southwestern Pennsylvania, according to a report by Reuters.

The affected well is the Lanco 7H.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. on February 11. While only one known injury was reported, rescue personnel are searching for an employee who is missing.

As of 1:00 PM CST on February 12, the fire is still burning. According to local officials, the fire will be burning for an undetermined amount of time due to the extreme temperature of the blaze. Wild Well Control has been on site analyzing the best extinguishing options.

What caused the explosion is still being determined.
