Former Shell U.S. President Jon Hofmeister, 73, Passes Away

Jon Hofmeister, the former president of Royal Dutch Shell's U.S. sector (Shell U.S.), has died, according to a statement made by his family as well as an announcement by Royal Dutch Shell.

He was 73.

According to reports, Hofmeister died on May 24, 2021 after experiencing a short illness.

Hofmeister began his career at Shell in 1997, after leaving his position at General Electric. Ultimately, he served as the president for Shell U.S. from 2005 to 2008, and was a key part of rehabilitating the companies image in the US, conducting a state-by-state tour in 2006.

After his 2008 retirement, Hofmeister became an advocate for renewable energy, creating the a group entitled Citizens for Affordable Energy. He also authored a book centered on energy policy entitled "Why We Hate Oil Companies".

A memorial is set for June 29 and it will take place in Houston, Texas.
