Trafigura AG has begun shipping Permian crude to Corpus Christi via the newly commissioned Cactus II Pipeline, according to a report by Reuters.

The company struck a deal with Plains All American (the owner of the Cactus II Pipeline) to ship ~300,000 barrels per day of crude and condensate.

More Permian Pipelines Set to Come Online

After experiencing pressure of limited takeaway options over the last few years, the Permian is getting a much-needed boost in pipeline capacity.

In addition to the Cactus II, two more pipelines are expected to come online in the near future including:

The Gray Oak Pipeline

  • Capacity of 900,000 bbls/d
  • Jointly developed by Phillips 66 and Enbridge

EPIC Pipeline

  • Capacity of 590,000 bbls/d
  • Developed by EPIC Midstream

By year-end 2019, the Permian will have over ~1.8 million barrels per day of takeaway capacity.
