EnerVest Ltd. has entered the Barnett Shale with a $967 million acquisition of oil and gas properties from Talon Oil & Gas LLC.
Houston-based EnerVest, an oil and gas fields operator, acquired the assets from Dallas-based Talon with Houston-based EV Energy Partners LP, which is paying $300 million to acquire a 31 percent interest in the North Texas assets.
The deal includes 3-D seismic across all of the acreage and commodity price hedges from the seller.
Assets include 20,207 gross acres in the core of the Barnett Shale, and the properties produce 87 million cubic feet per day equivalent from…
