Murphy Oil Corp. has inked a deal to sell its entire Malaysian portfolio to a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) in an all-cash deal worth $2.127 billion.
This deal closed on July 10, 2019.
The assets are comprised of fully issued share capital of its two primary Malaysian subsidiaries, Murphy Sabah Oil Co., Ltd. and Murphy Sarawak Oil Co., Ltd.
Murphy has been decreasing its Malaysian spending each year since 2014 (see slide below) - only $106MM of its ~$1.35B 2019 budget was allocated to the asset.
