Petrohawk Energy Corp. has agreed to acquire about 3,000 acres in a Louisiana natural gas field from private sellers for about $169 million.
The Houston energy company said the interests in Elm Grove Field, located in Bossier and Caddo parishes, includes about 83 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent of proved reserves, of which 35 percent is proved developed and 90 percent is operated.
Net production is estimated to be about 10 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day.
Petrohawk expects to close on the deal by the end of January.
