An Eagle Ford Team That Cashed Out Is Back for Another Cycle

Houston — January 15, 2026 — Lime Rock Partners, a Houston-based private investment firm specializing in upstream oil and gas, has completed an equity commitment to Athena Energy Partners, LLC, a newly formed exploration and production company focused on acquiring and optimizing assets in South Texas, particularly the Eagle Ford Shale.
Athena’s leadership team brings institutional basin experience and a proven track record of asset development. The group is led by Stephen Goldfarb, former Chief Financial Officer of Ensign Natural Resources, and includes several senior Ensign veterans — Garner Haydell, Jennifer Smith, and Matt Geiser.
