Athlon Downspaces, Optimizes HZ Wells in Midland Basin

Athlon Energy recently IP'd three large Midland Basin wells, and has detailed its spacing, frac design and rig count development plans for its pure play position in the Midland Basin.
Low cost vertical wells, combined with horizontal wells, are being used to exploit three Wolfcamp layers. Athlon has inventoried up to 4 horizontal locations per section, with the potential for 12.

The vertical wells drilled have a lower rate of return compared to Athlon's HZ wells, but are only $2 MM a well:
