Icon Energy reported that a vertical exploration well, Halifax 1, was spudded on 4-Aug-2012 in the ATP 855P, located in the Cooper Basin, Queensland.
Partners in the ATP 855P area: Beach (60%, operator), and Icon Energy (40%)
The Halifax 1 vertical exploration well will be:
Located 12 km to the north-east of Encounter 1, and will evaluate the shale gas potential in the REM and Patchawarra Formation Drilled to a planned TD of 4,130m, and is expected to take ~ 55 days Used to identify the best targets for a future horizontal wellBeach will be funding the first $16 million needed for Halifax 1. The company has already delivered excellent results from its Cooper Basin Nappamerri Trough unconventional gas exploration program in PEL 218, adjacent to ATP 855P.
