With its 2015 plans focused on the Haynesville, Comstock Resources has unveiled its new well design which it will utilize on new well projects as well as refracs.

With the new design implemented, Comstock expects more than double its estimated 24-hour IP range from 9.0 Mmcf/d to 23.0 Mmcf/d.

Comstock’s new strategy calls for extended laterals coupled with larger stimulation treatments. Currently, the company boasts 704 Haynesville locations, 91 with extended lateral potential. A total of 185 refrac opportunities have also been identified.

Going forward, the company will be using 200% more proppant (150,000 lbs. per cluster (previously 50,000 lbs. per cluster)) and 40% more fluid (110,000 gallons per cluster (previously 80,000 gallons per cluster)).
