Dissolvable Frac Plugs Cutting Well Costs, Drill Times

As operators continue to find new ways to cut drilling costs, a number of E&Ps are utilizing dissolvable frac plugs during completion operations, eliminating the need to drill out plugs.

Pioneer Natural Resources

Pioneer has deployed dissovable frac plugs in the Eagle Ford Shale. Additionally, the company is testing them in the Spraberry and Wolfcamp.

Pioneer's Current Cost per Well: Eagle Ford: $7.0-8.0 million Wolfcamp/Spraberry: ~$9.0 million

Pioneer expects its completion costs to drop by ~20% by year-end 2015.

Anderson Energy

Anderson has utilized dissolvable frac plugs on its Cardium wells since late 2014. It looks to further reduce costs by experimenting with Nitrogen in frac placement.
