Icon Energy and Beach Energy Encouraged by Cooper Basin Well

Icon Energy and Beach Energy are encouraged by signs that their Halifax-1 unconventional exploration well appears to be gas saturated throughout the entire Permian zone, which covers more than 1.3 kilometres.

This is based on preliminary interpretation of log data from the Queensland Cooper Basin well which indicates gas saturation from the shallowest Toolachee Formation right down to the Patchawarra Formation.

Halifax-1 has also intersected the thickest Roseneath Shale, Epsilon Formation and Murteree Shale (REM) section, at about 460 metres, of any other Nappamerri Trough wells drilled to date. The Patchawarra Formation is greater than 490 metres thick here.
