MDU Resources Names New VP/Controller

MDU Resources Group, Inc. has named Nathan W. Ring as vice president, controller and chief accounting officer of the corporation, effective Jan. 3.

Ring will replace Nicole Kivisto, who has accepted another executive position with a division of the corporation.

Ring joined MDU Resources in 2001 as a tax analyst. He has held a number of accounting and finance positions with increasing responsibility that provided experience across a number of the corporation’s businesses at both the operating and corporate levels. He currently holds the controller position at the MDU Construction Services Group, Inc. subsidiary.

Doran N. Schwartz, vice president and chief financial officer of MDU Resources, commented: "Nathan has a strong focus on integrity within the financial reporting process. He has moved his family around the country to gain experience at several of our operations, and his broad experience and knowledge will definitely be an asset to MDU Resources as he moves into his new role."

Ring, a native of Langdon, N.D., has a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of North Dakota. He is a certified public accountant. He and his wife, Kathryn, live in Bismarck with their three children.
