PDC Energy Sees Gains from New Wattenberg Completion Design

In its latest investor presentation, PDC Energy has detailed the progress on its enhanced completions and extended-reach laterals (ERLs) in the Wattenberg Field.

Completion Strategy - ERLs and Plug-N-Perf

On the Churchill and Chestnut pads, PDC has reported that wells targeting the Niobrara and Codell formations are outperforming type curves.

The company is focusing on Plug-N-Perf completions in the Wattenberg. Currently, this design is achieving 30-35% well result improvements when compared to sliding sleeve completions.

By year-end 2015, PDC expects to complete approximately 39 Plug-N-Perf wells.

Frac Design

The company also outlined its frac strategy, which it will use on the majority of its Wattenberg wells in 2H 2015.
