Pemex has announced its 2013 annual report that it will drill ten shale test wells in 2014, according to a report by Reuters.
While there has been interest voiced in Mexico's shale potential, large-scale development has yet to be achieved.
Gustavo Hernandez, interim head of Pemex's exploration and production division said, "That kind of massive development has yet to reach us here in Mexico."
He added that Mexico's technically recoverable shale resources stand at 60.2 BBOE.
The ten planned Pemex wells will bring the total number of shale test wells in Mexico to 175.
