Poland Shale Development at Risk From New Tax Laws

As Poland's exploration of its shale gas reserves continues, the government has proposed an overarching tax structure for companies involved in gas and oil production.

Shale gas regulations to be enforced

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed on Tuesday that clear regulations on shale gas exploitation will be introduced so as to put investors as ease.

Tusk said that “hundreds, perhaps thousands” of wells were at stake.

The Prime Minister said that the supervision of the exploitation of shale gas reserves will be carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment.

“Minister [Marcin] Korolec is responsible for the exploitation of shale gas, and Deputy Minister of the Environment Piotr Wozniak has all the authority to continue this work,” he said.
