Rig Count: Big Drop in Permian, Other Plays Continue Tapered Decline

According to Baker Hughes' October 9, 2015 rig count report, rigs counts continued to decline in the U.S., while Canada posted a meager one rig gain.

The Permian fell by a further 10 rigs this week, well outpacing other plays.  The Eagle Ford lost 2 rigs, while the Marcellus, Bakken, Miss Lime, and Utica all lost 1 rig.

The U.S. rig count dropped by 14 this week, which brings the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop to 1,135.

The current active rig count in the U.S. is 795.

- Eagle Ford -2, 80 total

- Marcellus -1, 46 total

- Bakken -1, 65 total

- Utica -1, 20 total

- Permian -10, 235 total

- Woodford 0, 37 total
