This week in Rig Counts, we look at the changes we have seen in the U.S. Rig activity over the last few weeks. We eexpect the rig count to continue falling another 90 or so rigs, this is based on guidance from a few companies so far that have reported 1Q 2020 results. The most surprising is Exxon, who currently operators 1/4 of the rigs in the Permian, said it plans to drop to 15 rigs by the 3rd to 4th quarter of the year.
Changes this week.
Marcellus/Utica 40 up +1 from privately held Ascent Resources
Eagle ford 27 up +1 from large mult-national INPEX Corp. It is worth nothing we have seen a pretty sizable move from EOG down from 8 rigs to 1.
Haynesville 30 down -1 Aethon and Comstock and +1 by Chesapeake
Permian 214 down (-13) driven by Exxon, Birch, Callon and Devon.
