Rig Count Continues to Swing Downward: US Drops 29 Rigs

According to Baker Hughes' October 2, 2015 rig count report, rigs counts continued to decline in the U.S., however Canada posted a 3 rig gain.

The Permian saw a dramatic drop of -5 rigs this week, while the Niobara, Eagle Ford, and Woodford saw the loss of -3 rigs each.

The U.S. rig count dropped by 29 this week, which brings the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop to 1,113.

The current active rig count in the U.S. is 809.

- Eagle Ford -3, 82 total

- Marcellus -2, 47 total

- Bakken -1, 66 total

- Utica 1, 21 total

- Permian -5, 245 total

- Woodford -3, 37 total

- Miss Lime 0, 14 total

Canada's rig count increased by three. The country's rig count has fallen by 251 rigs YOY with 179 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts rose by 19 in August of this year.
