Rig Count: Horizontal Rigs Jump by +11 This Week

This week, rig counts continued to increase in North America while International activity posted a decline.

U.S. rig counts posted a gain of +9, while Canada's rig count increased by +5. In June 2016, the International market lost -28 rigs.

This week, horizontal rigs jumped by +11, ending at 343 while vertical rig counts remained the same at 61. The Bakken, Woodford and Permian saw the strongest gains this week, adding +2, +2 and +4, respectively.

For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -423. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 440.

Canada's rig count has fallen by -88 rigs YOY with 81 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts fell by -28 in June of 2016, with 927 rigs currently active (a loss of -219 YOY).
