Rig Count: Rising Oil Prices Spur Rig Count Gains Worldwide

Rig Count: Rising Oil Prices Spur Rig Count Gains Worldwide

This week, rig counts posted gains across all markets.

U.S. rig counts posted a gain of +6, while Canada's rig count increased substantially by +24. In May 2016, the International market gained +9.

This week, horizontal rigs posted a gain of +4, ending at 323 while vertical rig counts added +1, ending at 46. The Bakken and MissLime plays both gained +2 rigs this week.

For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -445. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 414.

Canada's rig count has fallen by -65 rigs YOY with 65 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts rose by +9 in April of this 2016, with 955 rigs currently active (a loss of -203 YOY).
