Rig Count: U.S. Count Declines by -9; Canada Gains +7

U.S. rig counts declined by -9 overall, while Canada posted a gain of +7. In April 2016, the International market lost -39.

This week, horizontal rigs declined by -3 to 315 while vertical rig counts remained steady at 53.

Overall, rigs declined across all plays. The Permian lost any ground it gained, losing -5 (compared to gaining +5 last week).

For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -482. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 406.

Canada's rig count increased by +7. The country's rig count has fallen by -34 rigs YOY with 43 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts dropped by -39 in April of this 2016, with 946 rigs currently active (a loss of -256 YOY).
