Rig Count: U.S. Loses -3 Rigs; Canada Posts +7 Gain

Rig Count: U.S. Loses -3 Rigs; Canada Posts +7 Gain

This week, rig counts dipped slightly domestically while international activity continued to climb.

U.S. rig counts posted a loss of -3, while Canada's rig count increased by +7. In May 2016, the International market gained +9.

This week, horizontal rigs posted a loss of -1, ending at 325 while vertical rig counts remained the same at 53. The Bakken and Permian saw gains this week, adding +2 and +4, respectively.

For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -438. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 421.

Canada's rig count has fallen by -59 rigs YOY with 76 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts rose by +9 in April of this 2016, with 955 rigs currently active (a loss of -203 YOY).
