Rig Count: US Loses 16 Land Rigs

According to Baker Hughes' January 22, 2016 rig count report, U.S. rig counts have dropped by -13 overall, while Canada continued its upward trend, adding +23. In December 2015, the International market lost -14.

Overall, -8 horizontal and -3 vertical rigs were taken down this week. The Permian lost -7 rigs this week.

The total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at 996.

The current active rig count in the U.S. is 637.

- Barnett -1, 4 total

- Eagle Ford -4, 64 total

- Marcellus -3, 35 total

- Bakken -2, 45 total

- Utica 1, 14 total

- Permian -3, 199 total

- Woodford 2, 39 total

- Miss Lime -2, 10 total

Canada's rig count jumped by +23. The country's rig count has fallen by 182 rigs YOY with 250 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts dropped by -14 in December of this 2015, with 1,095 rigs currently active.
