Rig Count: Upward Trend Continues in North America; +21 Rig Gain

This week, rig counts continued their upward trend in North America.

U.S. rig counts posted a gain of +7, while Canada's rig count increased by +14. In June 2016, the International market lost -28 rigs.

This week, horizontal rigs saw a gain of +1, ending at 344 while vertical rig counts fell by -1, ending at 60. The Permian and Woodford continued to gain, adding +2 each. The Barnett saw a sizable loss of -4 rigs.

For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -410. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 447.

Canada's rig count has fallen by -97 rigs YOY with 95 rigs currently active.

On the International front, rig counts fell by -28 in June of 2016, with 927 rigs currently active (a loss of -219 YOY).
