Seasonal Recovery Big Boost for Canadian Rig Activity

According to Baker Hughes' January 8, 2016 rig count report, U.S. rig counts have dropped by -34 overall, while Canada saw a huge +83 jump in rigs and the International market -14.

Overall, -30 horizontal and -8 vertical rigs were taken down this week. The Permian lost -8 rigs this week.

The total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at 1,086.

The current active rig count in the U.S. is 664.

- Niobrara -1, 22 total

- Barnett -1, 6 total

- Eagle Ford -5, 71 total

- Marcellus -4, 37 total

- Bakken -4, 49 total

- Utica -1, 14 total

- Permian -8, 209 total

- Woodford -2, 36 total

- Miss Lime -1, 11 total

Canada's rig count jumped by +83. The country's rig count has fallen by 200 rigs YOY with 166 rigs currently active.
