Total SA to Rebrand as Total Energies; Pivot Focus to Renewable Energy
French company Total SA has announced that it has changed its name to Total Energies.
This move comes as the firm looks to become a net zero emissions company and increase its investments in renewables going forward. As a result, its oil-focused investments will be dialed down.
The company's CEO, Patrick Pouyanne, said: “By proposing this name change to shareholders, we’re also fundamentally asking them to approve this change in strategy."
The company will still have oil investments, but they will be limited to approximately one-third of Total's business (compared to over 50% currently).
