TransCanada Abandons Energy East Pipeline, Eastern Mainline Projects

TransCanada is no longer proceeding with its Energy East Pipeline and Eastern Mainline projects.
The project was initially announced back in October 2014 and was slated to transport approximately 1.1 million barrels of crude oil per day from Alberta and Saskatchewan to the refineries of Eastern Canada and a marine terminal in New Brunswick.
TransCanada President and Chief Executive Officer Russ Girling commented: "After careful review of changed circumstances, we will be informing the National Energy Board that we will no longer be proceeding with our Energy East and Eastern Mainline applications.
