After failing to find a buyer for its refinery in Convent, Louisiana, Royal Dutch Shell has decided to shut down the facility, according to a report by Reuters.
On average, the refinery processed over 211,000 barrels per day.
In a statement, Shell spokesman Curtis Smith said the decision was made as “part of the company’s global strategy to invest in a core set of uniquely integrated manufacturing sites that are also strategically positioned for the transition to a low-carbon future."
