Big Name Operators Set Sights on Powder River Basin; 5,000-Well Project

After a lengthy environmental study, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released its plans regarding a 5,000 well JV project in Wyoming's Powder River Basin, according multiple news reports.

The proposal was first made back in 2014 by a partnership consisting of:

Anadarko Chesapeake Energy EOG Resources SM Energy ** (SM has since sold to Northwoods Energy LLC ) Devon Energy The Project:

The proposed project would span ~1.5 million acres across Converse County, Wyoming would take approximately 10 years to complete.

Approximately 60% of the minerals to be tapped are owned by the BLM.

According to the Casper Star Tribune, the project could create over 8,000 new jobs and rake in between $18-28 billion in revenue.
