Cabot Oil & Gas Preps to Drill First Permian Well

As most of you remember, back in April of last year (see here..) We were asked to by a few subscribers if we had any knowledge of where Cabot was spending their exploration capEx. While the company has not commented publicly, we looked our permit database and found its subsidary Cody Energy LLC had filed its first permit to drill a vertical well in Jeff Davis County.
Since then the company has continued filing vertical permits in Jeff Davis county.
The company is now prepping to drill its first Horizontal well in the Basin. The ROCKET 201 horizontal permit has been filed with the RRC with a TD of 10,500 ft. and a planned completed depth of 9,700 ft. The well was originally permitted on 1/26/2018, however Cabot finally changed the name on the permit from Cody Energy LLC on 4/16/2018.
