Ex-Energy Transfer Exec, Joints Howard Energy

Howard Midstream Energy Partners, LLC (HEP) has added two new industry veterans to its growing leadership team. The company appointed Roy Patton as Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President, and Brett Braden as General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Roy Patton comes to Howard Energy Partners with nearly 35 years of experience in the natural gas pipeline industry. His experience spans all aspects of commercial activities including gathering and processing, high-pressure transmission pipelines, business development, and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining HEP, Patton was senior vice president of commercial operations at Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (ETP), where his responsibilities included the management of approximately 7,500 miles of pipelines in Texas and Louisiana and more than 60 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage. Patton most recently oversaw ETP’s activities in Mexico and was responsible for creating approximately 1 billion cubic feet per day of new business and developing more than 300 miles of 42-inch pipeline with more than 2.5 billion cubic feet per day of capacity from the Permian Basin to Mexico.

Brett Braden

Brett Braden has been an energy lawyer in Houston for almost 20 years. Most recently prior to joining HEP, Braden served as a founding partner at Latham & Watkins LLP’s Houston office, which he helped form in 2010. Primarily focused on corporate finance and merger and acquisition matters, Braden has comprehensive experience representing MLPs and other companies engaged in the upstream, midstream and service sectors of the oil and gas industry. Additionally, Braden has experience representing both public and private energy companies in divestitures, joint ventures, and corporate governance and compliance matters. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Braden was a partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston.
