Frac Sand Provider Files for Bankruptcy

CARBO Ceramics Inc. has reached an agreement with Wilks Brothers LLC and Equify Financial LLC under which the Wilks Brothers will acquire CARBO through a debt-for-equity exchange pursuant to a plan of reorganization in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.

The Wilks Brothers are providing Carbo with a $15 million bankruptcy loan. 

The company intends to use the bankruptcy as a way to walk away from its railcar contracts, with amounts to close to $60 million.
