Operator to Now Focus on High Return Spraberry

In its latest investor presentation, Callon Petroleum outlined its preliminary plans for 2016, where it is switching its focus from the Wolfcamp B to the Lower Spraberry.

This year, Callon plans to drill a total of 15.9 Wolfcamp B wells and 8.4 Lower Spraberry wells. However, in 2016 the company plans to switch up its focus, estimating that it will drill 14.8 Lower Spraberry wells and only 4.2 wells targeting the Wolfcamp B.

The change in strategy is likely attributable to its latest production type curves. The Spraberry is outperforming the Wolfcamp B with a 912 MBOE type curve (compared to the Wolfcamp's 595 MBOE).
