ExxonMobil annouced during its 3Q17 earning call that the company plans to grow its rig count in 2018 to 30, up from 20 currently.  Earlier this year, the company agreed to pay the Bass Family $6.6 Billion for 275,000 net acres in the Southern Delaware Basin (Jan 2017) and then in September, the company bolt-on another 22,000 net acres.

The company has very ambitious production goals, for the Permian where it expects to see growth from ~100 Mboe/d to 400 Mboe/d in 2023.
