Rig Count: Barnett Sees +5 Rig Jump; Eagle Ford, Permian Post Gains
This week, rig counts continued their upward trend, posted gains across all markets.
U.S. rig counts posted a gain of +10, while Canada's rig count increased by +4. In May 2016, the International market gained +9.
This week, horizontal rigs posted a gain of +3, ending at 326 while vertical rig counts added +7, ending at 53. Texas posted the largest gain in rigs with the Barnett, Eagle Ford and Permian seeing gains of +5, +4 and +4, respectively.
For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -433. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 424.
Canada's rig count has fallen by -67 rigs YOY with 69 rigs currently active.
On the International front, rig counts rose by +9 in April of this 2016, with 955 rigs currently active (a loss of -203 YOY).
