Top Ten Wells of 2016 in the Eagle Ford Shale

With a prime acreage area covering Karnes, Gonzales and DeWitt Counties, EOG continues to dominate in South Texas. The company drilled 8 of the top ten wells in 2016 - one of which flowed 4,196 BOE/D on a less than 3,000 ft lateral.
EOG will run 4-6 rigs in 2017, and has not yet announced drilling plans for the year.
Penn Virginia is beginning to find similar results in nearby Lavaca county, drilling longer laterals relative to EOG. Penn Virginia held the record in the first half of the year for the largest Eagle Ford well drilled in 2016. The company has recently emerged from bankruptcy and announced capex plans for a fresh start to drilling in 2017.
