Continental Resources to Acquire 90% Stake in Vaca Muerta Shale Concession

Continental Resources Inc. has agreed to acquire a 90% operating stake in the Los Toldos II Oeste block, a shale concession within Argentina’s Vaca Muerta formation, marking a significant entry by the U.S. independent into the South American unconventional oil and gas sector.
Under the terms of the agreement, Continental will purchase its stake from Pluspetrol S.A., one of Argentina’s leading domestic energy companies. The remaining 10% interest in the concession will be retained by Gas y Petróleo del Neuquén (GyP), the provincial state oil company.
