EP Energy to Start Sharing Drilling, Completions, Frac Data
EP Energy (formerly El Paso Energy) have committed to sharing key drilling, completions and hydraulic fracturing data on their Eagle Ford, Rockies / Altamont and Wolfcamp wells drilled between 2012 and 2014.
They have joined the "Shale Performance Review" (SPR) to trade their North American offset shale well data with BHP (Petrohawk), Chevron (Atlas), Hess, Husky, Hunt, Marathon, Murphy, Newfield, Nexen, Pioneer, Shell, Statoil (Brigham) Suncor and Talisman.
Established early 2012 in Houston by a group of Operators, the SPR enables the exchange of high quality and reliable data between Operators to aid them with their well planning, budgeting, performance management and benchmarking processes.
Helen Rushmore, Director of the Reviews, whose organisation manages the SPR on behalf of the Operators, said: "It is the Operators themselves who decide what data to share and the rules under which this is done. The fact that every participating Operator has committed to provide between three and five years’ worth of data shows how committed these companies are to achieving ‘top quartile’ performance.
"The shale revolution is rapidly spreading worldwide and we have published data on shale wells drilled by Chevron in Argentina and Poland; ConocoPhillips in Poland; Eni in Poland; Marathon in Indonesia and Poland; Nexen in Colombia; Santos in Australia; Shell in China, Jordan and Sweden; Talisman in Poland and Total in Argentina."
Aberdeen-based Rushmore Reviews are this year celebrating 25 years of offset data sharing between hundreds of Operating Companies in 100 countries.
Rushmore added: "Performance excellence is vital for success in the North American shale plays and the only way an Operator can measure its comparative level of performance is through access to high quality and reliable offset data.
"It is for this reason that a rapidly growing band of Operators are sharing their data, which is then subject to the most rigorous and independent quality control in the industry, and published via a website along with the tools to enable them to analyse and understand performance excellence in the shale plays."
