Minerals Spin-Offs Providing Operators Access to Capital

As oil prices continue to slide, E&P companies are adopting numerous strategies in order to weather the storm. Companies who have launched spin-off companies are finding themselves in a more stable position when it comes to 2015 operations.

Many of these spin-off companies are created to take over the mineral rights of acreage owned by parent companies, which eliminate overhead costs for operations.

While there was quite a number of spin-off companies created in 2014, 2015 may usher in even more due to the current oil price climate. Apache Corp. and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. are two companies that are prime candidates for such a move.
