Permian Basin: Massive Shift In Horizontal Activity

Shale Experts is making use of permit data to detail trends in drilling in the Permian Basin.

Taking a closer look at the horizontal and vertical wells drilled, it is clear that a majority of horizontal well activity is taking place in hotspots in the shale layers.  Southern Eddy and Lea counties in New Mexico, as well as northern Reeves and Loving counties in Texas show dense horizontal activity in the Northern Delaware Basin.  This area is prevalent for the Avalon, Bone Spring and Delaware Wolfcamp.

While horizontal activity in the Midland basin is more focused on the Wolfcamp and Spraberry.
