Potential ND Frac Sand Mine Could Save Bakken Operators Thousands
Operators in the Bakken could now source frac sand locally after a sand deposit was discovered in McHenry and Mercer counties, North Dakota, according to a report by the Grand Forks Herald.
The discovery was made near the towns of Minot and Rugby (~160 miles from Grand Forks). Asgard Resources (based in Houston, TX) has obtained a permit to mine the sand in both counties.
Sourcing the sand locally would potentially save operators anywhere from $150-300K per well.
