YPF in Discussions to Stay Work Stoppage in Vaca Muerta

According to a report from Bloomberg, YPF SA is meeting with the representative of 20,000 oil workers in discussion of a strike set to stall production in the Vaca Muerta shale for a day.

A company official is meeting union leader Guillermo Pereyra a week before the 24-hour stoppage, scheduled May 26 2014.

The workers are protesting regulation allowing subsidized import gasoline prices for YPF, Royal Dutch Shell, and Petrobras.  These mean that three small refineries in Neuquen province that employ about 700 workers are paying more for crude, and risk shutting down.
