PDC Bets on Plug-N-Perf, Further Downspacing in the Wattenberg

PDC Energy Inc. has detailed the latest developments on its downspacing pilot as well as an enhanced completion design strategy in the Wattenberg Field. For 2015, the company is honing in on the inner and middle core areas of the field as well as utilizing tighter stage spacing.
Currently, PDC is testing 64-acre spacing at its Codell and Niobrara projects. This has increased average EURs from 265 MBOE in 2012 to 350 MBOE in 2014. The company estimates that 2015 EURs will come in at 485 MBOE.

For its 2015 projects, PDC is continuing downspacing operations across its Chesnut, Becker Ranch and Rieder prospects. The three projects call for the drilling of 34 total wells with lateral lengths ranging from 4,200' (Becker Ranch/Rieder) to 6,700' (Chesnut).
