Chesapeake to 'Drop Back' Haynesville Activity in 2019; Drills First 15K Lateral

As a part of its Haynesville Shale Update, Shale Experts is taking a look at Chesapeake Energy's latest activity in the play.

2019 - Dropping Activity, Fewer Rigs

Chesapeake's EVP of Exploration & Production, Frank J. Patterson, commented on the company's 2019 plans for the play in the company's Q3 2018 conference call.

He revealed that the company plans to drop down activity in the play, commenting: "[In the] Haynesville, we will be dropping back potentially to one to two rigs."

He further noted that this decrease in activity is due to the company opting to "focus capital spend on higher margin opportunities."

Drills First 15K Lateral; More Planned

In its more recent presentation, Chesapeake revealed that it has drilled its first 15,000' lateral in the Haynesville - the GEPH 1HC well.
