Russia has announced that its plans for offshore drilling in the Arctic's Kara Sea has been postponed until 2016, according to reports.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that operations will be delayed until next year or "possibly even longer."

The delay has been caused by Western sanctions levied on the country in connection to the unrest involving Russia and Ukraine.
