Bakken Enters Top Tier, Exceeds 1 MM Barrels per Day

The North Dakota Bakken now produces more than 1 million barrels of oil per day as of April 2014, according to a report from the Bismarck Tribune.  The figures were released Tuesday June 17 2014 by the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources.

North Dakota now joins Texas as the only two states producing more than 1 mmbopd.  Texas produces more than 2 mmbopd.  Worldwide, fewer than 20 countries produce more than 1 million barrels per day.

Natural gas flaring in North Dakota remains at 30%, accounting for 22% of the nation's flared gas.  Natural gas production reached 1.1 Billion cubic feet per day in the same month.
