The state of Colorado has voted to nix the proposed Prop 112, a measure that would have taken a sizable amount of acreage off the table (61%) for E&Ps active in the state.
If it had been passed, this bill would mandate that any new oil and gas development on non-federal land take place at least 2,500' from any occupied structures and water sources.
Regulations will remain as they have been, which require oil and gas operations to take place 500' from homes / 1,000' from schools and businesses.
Operators active in the area, such as Anadarko Petroleum, had plans in place should the measure pass.
